I'm abouth to order the IKONSKOP for a Documentary project.
It will be shot in part in a coal mine, and therefore there will be a high air humidity and high temperatures. Has anybody tested the DII under extreme envirormental conditions?
Has anybody already shot a documentary production that involved at least a 2 weeks or more nonstop use of the camera?

thanks

Daniel

Hi, I'm just shooting a short film, in studio, B&W, 4th day,
yesterday we shot 54 min, around 270gb.
All good, just get at least 5 batteries for a 8h day.

battery is NP-F770, I have 4x80, and this is around 62 min, hopefully some stills will be up tomorrow!
I have noticed that viewfinder gets solarised after wild, after couple hours of shooting, and really nice will be to have control of the sleep mode, 2 min is really short time.
some initcators for battery life would be nice to.
other then that I am really pleased with a-cam dII, it is a great tool!

@krjaak: Does turning the camera on and off, get the solarization to go away instantly on the viewfinder? Also, does it only happen when it is cold, perhaps 40 degrees or less or all the time after camera has warmed up after a few hours?

@krjaak.
1-how many card do you have? Do you transfer via usb?
2-which software are you planing to edit and color correct for your short?
I tried DaVinci although it reads DNG without problem it has some issues in highlight recovery. So i think still best to use Adobe (Priemiere & after effects etc) tools for opening and editing dng. Then may be export uncompressed DPX, TIFF for color correctig tools. what will be your workflow for your short?

Just payed the deposit.
Ikonoskope says 2-3 weeks for delivery, so then I will find out for myself how things work :-)
Bought also a Ki Pro mini for more low profile work, and or Backup in case I will runn out of memory on longer productions.

I would be interested in finding out how the image recorded out of the HDSDI compares to the RAW format. What picture profile gets recorded to the external recorder? How will the image suffer if you try to color corrected versus RAW? This could quite possible take care of buying lots of cards.

Has anyone had any experience using Iridas speedgrade on set with Tcube fig. I work a lot in commercials and i would need to be able to show client/agency something a little more finished then the raw image. The software is pretty reasonable but vie now idea what the fig set you back.

i'm interested too in the ikonoskop + hyperdeck shuttle combo for long recording times... or even atom samurai, when it comes. i think that the Sound Devices PIX 240 its gonna be interesting too with the ikonoskop (good audio inputs and controls for documentary -one man crew-)... so waiting for your info

Gemini would be my first choice since you can load a LUT onto it

My god Kristjan! He's offloading cards, having to stay up all night, waking up every two hours to dump another 80GB.

IKON has to do something about these ridiculous slow card readers!!!

Actually, it was only one night. We shoot usually 2 cards, and we end the day around 7-8. Multi card reader via thunderbolt would be only solution for me, there is no reason to get USB reader, it is just not worth it. Maybe it is better to get another camera, for also 3d work.

in the meantime I got the IMS mount adapters.
Also the c-mount adapter, so I guess it should work but the guys at P+S technik appearently have not tested the camera so they couldn't tell me for sure.
I couldn't test them yet, as my camera has not been delivered yet.
Should have been ready 2 weeks ago, hope will be soon, as I will start shooting around mid of september.
